Laura Churchman is a Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist with the College of
Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO). She is also a member of the Canadian
Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She is trained in Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and
Response Prevention Therapy (ERP) for OCD. Prior to completing her Masters degree
in Counselling Psychology, Laura worked as an 8th grade teacher for 6 years and
became a certified special education specialist.
Laura supports families that have children with learning exceptionality. She focuses on
self-advocacy skill development, destigmatization, and self-esteem. She also helps
families gain a stronger understanding of their child’s psychoeducational assessment
results, and Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Laura is committed to developing a strength-based, non-judgmental, and collaborative
relationship with her clients ensuring her approach is tailored to their specific needs.
Laura is passionate about her work because she strongly believes in the value of
receiving mental health support at an early age.
