Cory Bentley
RP
Psychotherapist
Cory is a registered Psychotherapist and has been practicing for 25 years. She graduated from Western University with a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology in 1998 and began working at George Brown College. The counselling department of this downtown College offered wonderful exposure to people of diverse backgrounds and skills, but all with the common goal of bettering themselves and moving forward. Cory was inspired by her clients and enjoyed working with people to help identify challenges and problem-solve ways forward.
Cory began working with younger kids and families in 2018 at Canoe Therapy. She was energized by the work with younger clients and families. As a mom to 4 kids, she saw her kids and herself in many of the clients. Time as a parent and ongoing training and learning have helped equip Cory with strategies and approaches that resonate with young kids, teens and parents. Cory uses CBT, DBT, and a lot of positive psychology to help clients identify their strengths and challenges. Cory is a goal-oriented therapist, hoping to track progress and help clients to thrive.
Cory’s primary goal is to create a comfortable and engaging therapeutic environment for her clients. Her lighthearted nature and commitment to making therapy productive and enjoyable are evident in her approach. She uses fun, games, and interactive experiences to keep younger clients and resistant teens engaged. For parents, Cory is open and empathetic, ready to share in the challenges they often face.
