Raiyan Chowdhury
RP
Psychotherapist
Inspired by his volunteer work with Naseeha Muslim Youth Helpline, Raiyan set out to make a career in creating a safe space for youth and young adults where they feel accepted and free of judgement as they explore who they are and navigate life’s decisions. Earning his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Adler University (Vancouver) after completing an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from McMaster University, Raiyan is now a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
With a belief that the central tenet of effective therapy is the relationship with the client, Raiyan prioritizes creating a human experience of psychotherapy and developing an understanding of the youth’s world in order to provide the best possible wholistic care. Raiyan works from a foundation of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) while incorporating skills from Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing in order to create a personalized experience for each client.
Raiyan has experience working with:
- Low mood and Depression
- Anxiety
- Suicidality and Self-Harm
- Self-Esteem issues
- Anger issues
- Emotional Regulation
- Behavioural Concerns
- Interpersonal and relationship issues
- Family Conflict
- Trauma
As a South-Asian, Muslim, Male, First-Generation Canadian, Raiyan understands that the social, cultural, and familial environments around a client influence how they view their world and impact what they may find as solutions to their struggles. Raiyan is honoured to be walking alongside youth through a strength-focused, empathic, creative, and culturally-sensitive approach to therapy.
Raiyan feels privileged to witness your growth and looks forward to meeting you and your family!
