Safiya Jinah

Reg. CASLPO

Speech-Language Pathologist

Safiya obtained a Bachelor of Science with an Honours Specialization in Biochemistry before completing her French-English bilingual Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology, at the University of Ottawa. Safiya is registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and is a member of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC). She can provide services in both English and French.

Throughout her experiences, Safiya has been exposed to a variety of settings such as private practice, school board, acute care and rehabilitation services. She has cultivated a diverse clinical background in working with pre-school and school-aged children in the areas of articulation, fluency, developmental language, and pre-linguistic communication. She also has experience in working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, a population that she is particularly passionate in working with.

Safiya believes that building a relationship with each child based on trust and an empathetic understanding is very valuable to provide effective therapy. Thus, she strives to make her clients feel welcome, safe and warm by integrating the child’s interests into therapy and by putting special effort into the environment she works in. When not at Canoe therapy, you can find Safiya in the kitchen baking treats, snuggling her kitty at home, and crocheting all kinds of cozies.
