Jackie Bowie

RP(Q)

Registered Psychotherapist (Q)

Jackie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who holds her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She has worked with children, youth and their families in various therapeutic and academic environments and views each child, teen and adult in their lives as unique individuals who all have their own set of strengths and needs.

Within a therapy setting, Jackie takes a person-centred and strength-based approach allowing her to tailor her work to each client and their presenting concern. She incorporates best practices from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and integrates elements of mindfulness and play in each session. Jackie has experience and interest in working with a wide variety of concerns and challenges, including:

  • Emotion Regulation
  • ADHD
  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Learning Exceptionalities
  • Friendship and Peer Relations
  • Family Conflict
  • Depression
  • 2SLGTBQIA+
  • Low Self-Esteem
  • Perfectionism

In a session with Jackie, you can expect an open, non-judgemental and safe environment where children and teens feel comfortable, supported and heard. While each session may look different for each client, Jackie strives to meet every client where they are at in their journey and will incorporate active listening, empathy, open conversations, questions, psychoeducation, games and activities to further understand and support each child and teen.

Outside of her time at Canoe Therapy, Jackie enjoys hiking throughout the GTA, reading and travelling! She looks forward to meeting you and your family!
