Ash is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with specialized training in Music Therapy,
holding a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University, where he
refined his skills in utilizing music as a therapeutic tool.
Drawing from his diverse training, Ash employs a range of creative therapeutic modalities
to meet the unique needs of his clients. He incorporates play therapy techniques such as
Lego play, role-play therapy, and bibliotherapy to create engaging and effective
interventions for children and youth. Additionally, Ash integrates music therapy techniques
such as music and meditation, song writing, and musical improvisation into his practice,
leveraging the power of music to facilitate emotional expression and growth.
In therapy sessions, Ash seamlessly blends his music therapy expertise with
psychotherapeutic approaches like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance
Commitment Therapy (ACT), offering a holistic and comprehensive treatment approach. He
values a strength-based, culturally-sensitive, and client-centered therapeutic approach that
fosters the development of a sense of self through meaningful therapeutic relationships.
Ash has experience and knowledge in ADHD, Anxiety, ASD, Bullying, Depression, Emotional
Regulation, Identity/LGBTQIA2S+, Learning Challenges, Mental Health, Parent Guidance,
Self-Esteem, Sensory Processing, and Trauma.
Beyond his clinical work, Ash is a passionate music instructor and performer, showcasing
his talent as a trumpet player in various jazz ensembles and pit orchestras across Hamilton
and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In his downtime, he enjoys honing his culinary skills,
spending quality time with his rescue cat, and actively supporting local artists in the
community.
