Sarah Husain is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She received her Master’s Degree in School Psychology from the University of British Columbia in 2010, specializing in assessment, diagnosis and intervention for learning and developmental disorders in children and adolescents.
Sarah has over 10 years experience working with children and adolescents in various settings. She worked as a school psychologist for over 6 years within the public school system, and for several years in private practice. She has also provided assessment services for children and youth at community mental health agencies, and for adult learners at post-secondary institutions. Sarah pursued additional education in selected areas, including training on the ‘gold standard’ autism diagnostic tool for young children and toddlers, and certification in evidence-based social skills interventions for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
At Canoe, Sarah provides psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents. She diagnoses learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and giftedness/high ability. Sarah offers a holistic and comprehensive approach to assessment that helps parents and teachers better support the student’s learning and overall development at home and school. Her assessments cover multiple areas of functioning, including learning, behaviour, social, emotional and adaptive functioning. This ensures that recommendations are tailored to support the development of the whole child, making interventions more complete and effective.
Sarah truly enjoys working with children and their families, and easily develops a natural rapport with her clients. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, and spending time with her two young children, who have taught her so much about love and learning.
