Occupational Therapist
Rima completed her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at Boston University, Massachusetts after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Physiology from McGill University. She is registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario and is a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
Rima has worked in a variety of pediatric settings providing services in centres, homes and in both private and public school settings. She has supported children with various abilities, focusing on enhancing their participation in the community as well as in their homes and schools. Rima has experience addressing various fine, gross and sensory needs. She believes in the use of purposeful play and movement to help develop the children’s skills. She has also had success working with families on incorporating sensory strategies into their daily schedules to facilitate children’s participation in their everyday roles.
Some of the continuing education workshops that she has completed:
• Program of Essential Competencies in Sensory Integration – courses on Sensory Integration Theory, Assessment, and SI Intervention Strategies
• Eyesight to Insight – facilitating optimum performance in children with movement and vision issues.
• Astronaut Training
• Therapeutic Listening – sound-based intervention through ‘Listening with the Whole Body’.
• DIR Floortime Basic Level – promoting basic functional emotional developmental capacities
Rima welcomes the collaboration with families and parents in developing the goals and strategies that may be most effective. She believes that combining her theoretical knowledge and experience with the family’s insights is the combination that serves the child most effectively.
Rima enjoys spending time connecting with her family in Canada and beyond. She also enjoys reading, cheering on her children in their sports and creative pursuits and spending time in nature.
